The Portuguese giants FC Porto have confirmed that Atletico Madrid has agreed to sign defender Felipe Monteiro in a €20m deal.
Marca reported earlier on Monday that his transfer to Los Rojiblancos will be confirmed’ in the days ahead’ and will fill the gap left by the outgoing Diego Godin in the first team.
This was then confirmed on Tuesday by FC Porto with Marca confirming that this summer he would be Atleti’s first reinforcement.
The Brazilian defender is close to finishing his third season at the Portuguese giants who signed in the summer of 2016 from Corinthians.
The 29-year-old gained international recognition with Brazil and became one of Porto’s defense pillars.
“These have been three intense years as a blue and white and this era will be remembered for the rest of my life,” Felipe wrote on social media.
“I just have to thank the club’s fans, all the workers, the president, the coaches and the teammates with whom I lived during all this time.”
