Manchester City have reportedly rejected a £72 million offer from Bayern Munich for Leroy Sane.
The German winger has been a target for Bayern Munich this summer but were yet to submit an official offer.
According to Metro Bayern Munich a submitted £72m offer but the Premier League champions immediately rejected it.
The offer was well below City’s asking price, and the Bundesliga club are expected to return with a more expensive offer.
Negotiations between the two clubs have deteriorated in the last few days after the Bayern Munich coach Kovac was forced to apologize in a statement on their wish for Leroy Sane.
After saying he was confident that Bayern Munich would get Leroy Sane, Kovac said: “I and the club have spoken. Maybe I made a mistake in that interview. I spoke to Pep Guardiola and I apologized.
“I would also like to apologize to the club.”
Kovac was criticized by Bayern Munich director Hassan Salihamidzic, who said: “We are all told not to talk about other players who have contracts with other clubs.”
