Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has defended his team selection after their goalless draw against fourth tier Plymouth in the third round of the FA Cup.

Klopp selected the youngest starling line-up in Liverpool’s history.

Liverpool will now face a replay match for the third-round and they will play six more games in January.

Reds will also face Manchester United, Swansea and Chelsea in the Premier League and they will play Southampton in a two-legged League Cup semi-final.

But, the former Dortmund manager said: “I do not think the line-up was a mistake.”

When asked about the replay match and their long trip to Devon on 17th January, Klopp replied: “Yippee. I don’t know if at home they can play the same defensive style. We are looking forward to it.”

The average age of Liverpool starting line-up in yesterdays game was 21 years and 269 days. Lucas wo is 29 years old was their oldest player on the pitch.
